2nd INTERREG NSR Biochar Conference & 73rd ANS Symposium

Berlin, Germany - 19 to 20 September 2012

Focus on Biochar - Production, Use and Assessment

The Symposium continues where the 1st INTERREG NSR Biochar Conference ended last year: It aims at interconnecting the hypotheses and hopes which drive the ambitious R&D, the latest scientific findings, a practical implementation and an economic reality. The lectures give an overview of national and international Biochar research – with a focus also on global dimensions and on the relationship between the use of biomass for Biochar and bioenergy. Latest results and conclusions from trials assessing Biochar's effects on soils will be presented and complemented with case studies of Biochar application (e.g. in the eco-region Kaindorf, Austria). The Symposium gathers a number of international research experts to present the state-of-the-art knowledge on Biochar.

This year's Symposium is arranged by ANS in co-operation with several universities and associations and under the patronage of German Federal Enviromentminister Peter Altmaier. The European Union is contributing to the Symposium through the European Regional Development Fund.

Symposium organizer, the German ANS e.V. (Arbeitskreis für die Nutzbarmachung von Siedlungsabfällen e.V.) is a registered association collaborating with waste management experts and entrepreneurs to develop appropriate treatment and reutilization concepts for municipal waste.

The ANS Homepage offers detailed information, program, registration and accommodation booking for the Symposium.
