WG 2 Abstract - Land Use Management

The most important goal of WG2 is to assess and compare the carbon sequestration potential and agronomic added value such as soil fertility enhancement or erosion reduction by improved plant growth across Trans-European climatic and management transects and Biochar systems. Though a lot of information is available for tropical regions, these mentioned aspects have hardly been reported across temperate regions such as Europe. Methods will comprise agronomic (plant growth
and yield), soil scientific (soil nutrient content, total organic carbon, black carbon) and biological ones (plant physiology, plant health). To compare different agro-ecosystems, plants and climatic regions, sophisticated tools such as meta-analysis are required.
