The Steering Committee of COST Action TD-1107, "Biochar for sustainable environmental management", is pleased to announce the last call for applications for short-term scientific missions (STSMs). After the Joint Biochar Symposium 2015 was held 28.-30. September in Geisenheim, Germany, financial closure of the event revealed that it did not consume all set-aside funds. Therefore, the SC is pleased to be able to direct the left-over funds to funding STSMs.
STSMs in general are directed towards early –stage researchers and offer financial support for travelling and accommodation. However, STSM support is not considered to offer the total reimbursement of all costs; the support should enable exchange within ongoing research project. STSMs aim to enable and stimulate short-term scientific research trips from one EU COST country to another for a period of one week minimum up to three months maximum. (See here for more information). The maximum allowable funding is restricted according to the STSM duration.
We call for very fast submissions that will be processed rapidly for short STSMs within November 2015. There are around 11000 € left within the COST budget to be spend in this call. The mission needs to be finished February 29th 2016, and the report of the mission must be handed in at that date to enable reimbursement!
Please consult the STSM homepage of the COST Action Biochar for further information. If open questions remain after studying the guidelines you are welcome to contact the STSM coordinator Claudia Kammann (Geisenheim University, Germany).
